The article I have just read, The Bravest Girl
in the World is about Malala Yousafzi, a young Pakistani idol known
speaking out against the Taliban and their terrible rules and beliefs about
society. The Taliban has rules about the rights of girls and
women—forbidding schooling for girls and women from being in public without
their husbands or fathers. Malala and her father spoke specifically to the
second rule, demanding the right of all girls to go to school. This was brave,
but it did not succeed totally. The Taliban answered their defiance in 2012,
when they shot Malala in the head. But this did not stop her. The end of the
article goes on to say that after Malala recovered, she continued to talk. I
think Malala radiates an image of bravery, strength and perseverance because
despite being assaulted, she kept on going and remained as she was, possibly
even stronger after it happened.
Three shots were aimed at her, though only one hit her, going through
her left eye socket and out under her left eye socket, Malala says in an exerpt
from her book I Am Malala. Completely bloody, Malala was flown to a
hospital in Birmingham, England. It was several surgeries and a long recovery
until she was back. She didn't stop after her injury. She kept on going. She
even spoke at the United Nations on her 16th birthday. She said in her speech
"I am the same Malala. My ambitious are the same. My hopes are the same
and my dreams are the same..." Malala is strong and brave-- she fought for
rights even after being attacked by terrible people.
Malala is an amazing person and an amazing role model. It is important for teens to know what kind of people to look up to. They should have a clear judgement of what people are good and can teach you lessons and which are not so good and might get you off track. I would personally rather have Malala as a role model than any celebrity. I know that, people like Malala are rare and admirable and that more than anything-can teach you what is right.
